Bloggrod!

(will it work? Or will I continue to negelct updating it?)

May 10, 2006

Plenty of new shiz to add to the site! I've got 2 big and 2 little ideas coming online soon. Check 'em out:
Tiny: I host a weekly online radio program on Moodance.com every Sunday at 7 PM Pacific Time. I'll soon be posting my playlists under the Novcasts moniker. Stay tuned for that!
Little: Wallpapers for your PC. I know it's been done before a bajillion times. But hey, why not. You can have the goodness of Nov on your desktop whenever.
Big: WAP pages for your phone. Going with the theme above, I'll soon be launching a series of WAP pages so you can download some of my art to use as wallpaper on your phone... for free, naturally.
BIG: Shopgrod. While I'm still committed to keeping Novgrod as a non-commercial site, I do have overhead and (no bull) I have gotten emails asking if I had novgrod T shirts. So I'll be setting up with Cafe Press and selling there. No ads or pics here... just one link. This'll be very interesting (to say the least). No worries tho, my views remain unchanged: all my work is still under the Creative Commons by/nc/sa license. Heck, if you want a Novgrod T shirt, print out the pic on a iron-on transfer and iron it on your shirt. It's all good, but using Shopgrod will pay for my hosting/bandwidth. It'll be up by summer (I hope).

Well, as you can see I did a bit of rearranging and an assload of scripting for the art section. Heck, I stayed up till 2 am writing it. Only problem is I had to use some free java for it because quite frankly I know some java, but not enough to do what I want. But hey, it works. I'm going to work in a whole Web 2.0 theme into the site... even the Jizournal here. Remember that "secret feature" from the library section? No, it's not ready to go yet, but it will fit in with the whole revision. Trust me, it'll be real slick.

Sorry I haven't been punctual or anything even remotely close to timely on updating Novgrod. Not only have I been working my ass of at Ye Olde Door Shop, but I've been busy thinking. Thinking about life, the future, my direction, my chronic lack of female companionship, et cetera. I pretty much decided firmly that I don't want to wake up one day as a 50 year old, still building pre-hung doors. I mean, sure they pay the bills. But this IS NOT what I want to do with my life. Nope, not even close. My obsession with art won't let me do anything non-creative, and let's be honest here. Unless you're a little lucky and a little buisness savvy, you won't go that far in the art world... especially if you're into Fine Art and Public Art (like I am). So I've been trying to figure out what I'm going to do. I've known since I was in my early teens that I wanted to go into art, just not specifically what form. I was looking thru my drawings from when I was like nine and ten and then the answer hit me: I drew buildings. Lots of them, mostly houses. I love buildings. Heck, the apartments I live in were built in 1906 and have more character and detail than you can shake a stick at. This was my answer: architecture. So it's official, I have decided to go back to school to persue a career in architecture. It's amazing because this is the first real job/schooling/career decision I've ever made and felt really good about. In all this uncertainty, a path. It's going to be a long road, filled with math and physics but I feel really confident and good about it for once. Long have I put off going back to school. Somehow now at 24 years old, I feel ready to take it on.

Y'see? Look what happens. I sit down to update this thing, and I get distracted by some medical anomalies show on discovery channel.
Oh well! Back on track... 24 hrs later, on 1-23. Sorry, had to do that. I've always found the numerical form of Jan 23rd amusing.
So, yeah... I've been busy lately, what with moving and all! That's right! Me am be moving soon. So needless to say updates will be sporadic till I get settled in. But hey... more space=more room to make art, so huzzah!

Sheeeooot. December 6th? Man alive, I've been way too lax about updating this thing.

Dec 6, 2005

Not feeling so hot today... I may be catching a cold, so no updates for a few days, ok?

Dec 3, 2005

Yeah, my updating to this thing is as sporadic as I thought it might be. I guess I ought to do it daily, but who really cares that I bought beef jerky at fred meyer that day? You see, this is why technology that records every moment of your life will never happen: 99.9% of what we do is too boring to chronicle in the first place.
Anyway, I adjusted my poems, making them a LH alignment instead of centering. I like it, although I think I need to increase the padding. I am also thinking of going with a different font. Of course, the one I want to use is on my local machine, so when I do some future tweaking, I'll be uploading it to the server... along with a favico.ico file.

Testing, testing; 123. Can you see the irony?
Clever... Ok, enough with the song quotes from the Barenaked Ladies, although that is a good song nonetheless.
Well, I guess you could say this is an attempt at a blog-tpye live-journal-type thing. Well, as my title page expresses, it's very experimental and for that reason I haven't added a link to it in the main navigation bar at top the site. As of the moment, all links to it exist off the home page only. Well, maybe I wouldn't go so far as to categorize this as anything other than a peek into the inner workings of my mind and my views on various things.
I'll be adding a short story soon to the library, although I'm likely going to have to re-write it from memory, as I can't find the original. So that'll add a nice, perviously unseen dimension to it. I hope I remember it. Although admittedly, during the search for this elusive work, I had to come to terms with something I've long known: I'm a HUGE pack rat. Oh man, it's bad. I have schoolwork from like the 6th grade and 10 years worth of birthday cards. I can never find what I'm looking for because I have everything! But hey, take inspiration when it shows up. I came across a card from many years ago, from a girl I knew. It inspired a poem, actually... This one to be specific. Just a note: that is the first poem I wrote directly to the site! I poured my heart into that one, so don't make fun of me.
