Shiz you need to know
(I don't care if you read it... I do care that you obey it!)
Using what I put on the site
All of my work on my site (novgrod.com) is copyrighted because the DMCA says the moment it's made, it's been ©'d (thanks to lobbyists from disney and Sony Bono). So, that being said I add a couple of notes to whatever Uncle Sam has to say...
unless otherwise noted, all my work on novgrod is under the Creative Commons. More specifically, all of my work is under an attribution-NonCommercial-Share Alike license. Just to clear it up a little more, I'll "laymanize" the terms for using my work:
- You must give me credit (a link on the bottom of your site back to novgrod.com saying something like "image X courtesty of novgrod.com" is preferrable)
- You are allowed to edit my work however you like
- You may not use my work to make money or in any commercial way without my approval
- You must give anything you make from or using my work the same rights I gave you (that's right, all derivative works must also be released under the exact same license.).
This is very close to open source, except for the commercial aspect... Novgrod is committed to being non-commercial. I firmly beleive in the freedom of information and of media. Read this loud and clear: I don't like messing with the legal system, but if you use anything of mine commercially, I will take legal action. The future is in sharing, not hoarding up things behind lock and key. If you have any questions, contact me: narf at novgrod.com
I hate legal stuff, so I'll be quick: By using my materials, you agree to my terms, ok? Good.
